It's Snowing!
It is the end of April and it is snowing in Montreal! But the weather forecaster said it will look up tomorrow. I'm going bungee jumping this Sunday at Wakefield and staying in downtown Ottawa (so I hope that the weather will be pretty). I'm so excited!
My quest to learn the French language in Montreal is sadly coming to a close. I had just finished all my exams at Uqam last week and yesterday was my last oral exam at the night school. It was a good run, I think. I was searching through French courses at UBC earlier this weekend and realized I don't want to continue French in school. If I am to learn a language I'll go somewhere that speaks it and be surrounded by it. I don't want to take it in school! But it doesn't mean that I'm quitting. I would read regularily and perhaps join a group or something when I'm back in Vancouver. Or, like Elizabeth Gilbert, I'll search for a tandem partner.
I really enjoy this book by Elizabeth. It makes me want to write more. I should have written more on this blog. I'm starting to show bits of regret that I didn't keep a thorough journal of my days. It takes a lot more discipline than I had thought. You need the time to sit down with a cup of hot coffee or tea and you need to reflect for at least an hour or two. My excuse would be, and I think it is a good excuse, that I just didn't have (or make) the time to do such a thing bc i'm living it...mmhm. Perhaps when I go home and reflect upon this trip little by little on its own time without force I would be able to do more recording of the days here. what's amazing about Elizabeth's book and reading it right now is that I could relate to a lot of things she is saying. Look! Here I am wanting to learn French and here are the the newspapers and media written in French. How perfect is that! I can't wait to read what else she has to say. That part where her expenses were paid for because it was for work and that she has gelato everyday, sometimes three times a day really got me envious. I love the section where she describes the difference between how people from Italy and America enjoys pleasure. Very thought provoking indeed.
Well, that's all the reflecting for today! Congrats on finishing all your papers and exams! Ciao.

Hey! Thanks for the bday card guys. You are the BEST! haha. almost spelled BEAST!
Hmm...I'm really enjoying my French classes. I need to practice more though but this learning process is relaxing. Perhaps it's b/c it is focused and my head isn't dans la lune.
The festival of snow took place at Jean Drapeau (which is a man-made island built for their '76 olympic). I'll try to post the picture gigantic "supergliss" slide soon...maybe end of next week. It was a spectacle. I told Amy that characters working in the fes had makeup done up Cirque Du Soleil Style.
"My Same" by Adele ~~~~soooo good.
As for a French song....."Octobre" by Francis Cabrel
Later.

quickie
It's been way too long since I've last written and days seem to be going by too quickly. There's still so much I want to do here yet I'm not really doing much of it. I'm going to school mon wed and thurs 2-5 at UQAM and continuing with the night school mon-thurs 5:30-9:50. I want to try to find a volunteering thing for the weekend as someone has bought to my attention that taking all these school is really inefficient without being in the outside world. I also want to go the the rec centre at uqam since i've paid for it.
I hope all is well with you. Later!

luggage delayed
What luck! The flight was pleasant enough. I didn’t get to play two hours of poker with the guy next to me this time but I did get to watch two movies—“9” and “All About Steve” and listened to some hit music. Afterwards, I waited around forty minutes before being informed that my luggage were still in Vancouver due to bad weather thus a weight restriction on the plane. They told me that it would take 22-24 hours for the luggage to get to my front door but that hasn’t happened. I tried to reach them through phone but I either got the busy signal or on hold for hours upon hours. I am worried but crossing my fingers that it might come tonight or tomorrow morning. I’ll be in school from 2:00-5:00 and 5:30-9:50 today. I am totally excited but scared that I might miss my luggage arriving. No one will be home to receive it if it does come. What to do…
It’s snowing again. Not that cold today though. I’m going to get my student card and see if I could opt-out of the medical expenses because I don’t think I would be covered anyways. Finding a job on craiglist is hopeless. I’ll need to try other avenues if I hope to work a bit. I should get going. Bye!
